Peder Andersen Fisker was a tech enthusiast, a true nerd, and an innovative visionary. This enthusiasm marked the beginning of our journey, which continues to this day. Our passion and forward-thinking ideas propel us forward. From our humble origins in a Copenhagen backyard workshop in 1906, Nilfisk has grown to become a global leader in professional cleaning equipment.

After completing his electronic engineering studies in record time, the young Peder Andersen Fisker teamed up with his tech-savvy colleague, Hans Marius Nielsen, to establish Fisker & Nielsen. Together, they crafted small, cutting-edge electric motors. Fisker's dedication was unmatched; he even had a bed at the factory! A pivotal moment arrived in 1910 when he invented the C1, Europe's first electric vacuum cleaner, marking a turning point for both Fisker & Nielsen and the cleaning industry. Fisker & Nielsen eventually transformed into Nilfisk, and the rest is history.

Over the years, Nilfisk has undergone significant growth, innovation, and exploration, even expanding into the production of Nimbus motorcycles. In 1932, the launch of 'The Silent Dane' transformed the market with its remarkably low noise vacuum cleaner. By 1938, Nilfisk began to establish production facilities worldwide, and today, Nilfisk manufacture in ten countries across the globe.

The 1950s saw the introduction of Nilfisk’s first floor cleaner, which set the foundation for our most extensive product line. This era gradually shaped the company’s future, highlighted by the launch of the iconic G70 vacuum cleaner in 1958, recognised as the first to feature a dust bag suitable for both household and professional use.

By 1959, Nilfisk had a clear direction: to focus solely on cleaning equipment. Since then, we have continually introduced innovative cleaning solutions, including the pioneering wet and dry vacuum cleaner in 1962.

In 1969, Nilfisk's reputation as pioneers in cleaning caught the attention of NASA, leading to the use of Nilfisk vacuum cleaners to eliminate harmful dust from space shuttles. By 1988, Nilfisk expanded its product offerings by acquiring Gerni, which allowed them to enter new markets with high-pressure cleaners. The following year, in 1989, Nilfisk became part of NKT Holding.

Over the years, Nilfisk has acquired several international companies, including Advance Machine Company, CFM, and the ALTO Group. Production facilities were established in Hungary in 2003 and in China in 2005, further strengthening Nilfisk’s global presence. In 2007, Nilfisk made a significant move by acquiring Viper, a leading Chinese manufacturer of professional cleaning machinery and equipment. This acquisition included Viper's competitively priced scrubber dryers, enhancing Nilfisk’s mid-market segment.
